Patellar fracture treatment reg
My mom underwent laparoscopic surgery for patellar fracture yesterday. I am now very concerned about her returning back to 100% normal after seeing the xray post surgery. The screw looks big and concerns me if she will be able to kneel etc without discomfort after recovery? Please advice. xray pic is attached.

• Contrast Fomentation (Hot and Cold). • Avoid Squatting- • Avoid sitting Cross legged • Contrast bath---It is a form of treatment in which knee is applied warm water followed by the immediate application of the knee with ice water. This procedure is repeated several times, alternating hot and cold. Note that the treatment should always end in the ice water, as heat will induce the body's inflammatory response, while cold helps to decrease inflammation.

This is not the ideal screw for patella bone, the screw looks quiet big. I am worried it will cause pain and uncomfortable feeling. Bone takes 4-6 weeks to unite here. After that she can bend her knee. Although she can start knee quadriceps exercises from day-1. Protect knee with a knee brace and she can start non weight bearing walking with walker.

Health Tips
1.This is not a laparoscopic surgery, at max this can be a Arthroscopy assisted minimally invasive fixation. 2. There appears to be only once screw, so keeping knee immobilised for a minimum 2-3 weeks.
