Pain and swelling in ankle
My wife has mild and continuous pain in her ankle from past few weeks. With rest it gets better, however, while walking or doing some work it revives. There is minimal swelling too near the ankle joint.

Till then apply crape bandage nad any ointment/gell for pain relief.

It can be physiological swelling.. Need to rule out kidney and cardiac cause for swelling.
Pain can be because of many causes, like.. Due to sprain / arthritis etc.
Next Steps
Better to consult orthopaedic surgeon with xray of that ankle AP And lateral view... Few investigations - CBC, CRP, KFT, RBS

apply Crepe bandage, hot water fermentation, rest, limb evelavtion during rest.
