Swelling in ankles
My mother is 55 years old. She has been experiencing pain in her thighs and legs, particularly when she stands for a long period of time. Recently, I have also noticed swelling in both of her legs. I would like to understand what could be causing these symptoms. Could this be related to circulation, veins, vitamin deficiency, or any other underlying condition? Should we consult a physician and get any specific blood tests or scans done? Please advise what investigations would be appropriate and whether this requires urgent medical attention. Thank you. For future reference i have attached photos.

Care AI Shimmer
Pain and swelling after prolonged standing might be due to varicose veins, check for any dilated tortuous veins in her thighs and legs.
Next Steps
It is not a life threatening condition to seek urgent medical attention. Consult a general physician or surgeon for examination and doppler scan if necessary.
