My orthodontist told me that I have protruding teeth. What does this mean? Can this problem be solved by metallic braces? Please tell me how does it function to correct overjet? Please help.

Yes the over jet problem can be corrected by orthodontic treatment....this problem can be solved by metallic braces....and the duration of treatment will depends on severity of the problem...usually it will take 12- 16 months duration...

Cause of overjet needs to be ascertained. Increased overjet could be due to upper or lower teeth and jaws. Once cause is diagnosed it can be treated easily with metal braces or even with Invisalign. Duration will depend on the severity of the problem. Meet a qualified orthodontist with a MDS in Orthodontics.
Protruding teeth means Ur teeth are placed more front side than normal.
Yes it can be definately solved by metallic braces.
To connect an overjet Ur upper jaw must have sufficient space to take ur teeth back towards the normal placement,if not it must be created by removing 1 or more teeth on each side.
Mechanical tension or forces just pulls the teeth to come back to its natural and normal place.
