Non-union of the femur bone refers to a condition where a broken bone fails to heal or fuse together. Treatment for non-union typically involves surgery, and the type of surgery depends on the location and severity of the non-union. In general, treatment for non-union may involve bone grafting, where the bone is taken from another part of the body or a donor and placed at the site of the non-union to encourage healing. Alternatively, a procedure called an intramedullary nailing may be used, where a metal rod is inserted into the bone to help stabilize it and promote healing. Ilizarov method is a type of surgery that involves using an external fixator to treat bone fractures, deformities, and non-unions. In the case of a non-union in the femur bone, an Ilizarov procedure may be used to stimulate bone growth and promote the healing process. One specific technique used in Ilizarov surgery is called bone transport The success of the surgery and the recovery time depend on the extent of the non-union and the type of surgery performed. Your doctor will be able to provide more specific information about the procedure, including the recovery time and the cost. It is important to consult with a qualified orthopaedic surgeon who can evaluate your specific condition and provide an appropriate treatment plan.

There are different ways to treat nonunion femur like this, but best option is individualised as per patients health status, not only just xrays. Skin condition vascular status are equally important. Duration of treatment is prolonged spanning over 6-7 months or may be more.
Next Steps
consult orthopedic surgeon
