Femur fracture
Hi, my friend had an accident and got his femur fractured, it was two fracture, later got operated and a rod was put to fractured places, it's been around 8 months and xray shows one fracture is healed but there is still one fracture left and it's not healing. The doctor said they have to pull out the screw and need to do realignment and if it is not resolved through that way then they will put some bone powder to fracture place. I'm not aware of actually what that process is called. Kindly pour some light to this , thank you 🙏

It’s called non union. In this scenario we can remove some screws and add some bone graft

This is called Nonunion, where bone doesn't unite. It need some movement to heal now so that what the screw removal is and bone powder is to promote healing. Its common procedure .

The bone has not healed. So bone graft has to be inserted to the nonunion area after freshening the margins. The screw removal is called dynamisation, which is done to increase the compression and in turn stimulating the bone growth.
