Mouthwash is not a substitue of brush . And more over it should not be used for a prolonged period . it should only be used for a short time as recommended by a dentist after brushing.

Mouthwashes are an adjunct for oral care but they are never a substitute for manual toothbrushing.. some mouthwashes do reduce the adherence of plaque , but mainly they work on reducing the bacterial load thru disinfection.colgate plax is a very mediocre mouthwash , you can try Colgate periogard or freshclor mouthwashes and don't dilute them, use them after brushing
Next Steps
Don't skip brushing at night
Health Tips
Do flossing at least at night

hello, mouthwashes are like perfumes. they make you feel fresh only for sometime. they have no role in reduction of caries. so it can not be a substitute for brushing. so its important to brush twice a day, rinse after every meal and floss regularly.

hello, no you cannot replace your mechanical tooth cleaning (i.e. toothbrushing) with chemical tooth cleaning( i.e. mouth wash). Brushing your teeth twice daily is a must to maintain oral hygiene. you can use any over the counter mouth wash along with your regular toothbrushing.

Mouthrinses and mouthwashes are not intended to replace tooth brushing. It is important to brush your teeth twice a day with a fluoride toothpaste. One of those times should be before going to bed to remove all food particles from teeth and prevent the length of attacks by food on teeth. Using a rinse after brushing can help freshen breath and prevent tooth decay.

Using a mouthwash is like giving a final touch to the brushing schedule. But, its not a substitute for brushing. brushing removes the plaque over the teeth. which can't be removed by mouthwash. It just reduces the bacteria count in mouth but, doesn't help with reducing chances of having caries.
