Hi yes cap is mandatory post RCT in your case.As it is molar tooth it mainly used for grinding food.So in order to provide proper chewing efficiency cap is must.As RCT treated teeth are not strong enough compared to natural teeth it's better to go for cap.Zirconia is the best option.
Next Steps
Get zirconia cap done.
Health Tips
Maintain proper oral hygiene Use water flosser regularly to avoid food accumulation and for proper maintainance

Root canal treatment is done to remove the infected pulp tissue along with the decay so that in future there is no pain. The upper molar is a tooth that participates in chewing and grinding hence saving your molar is a must. Now depending on the extent of the decay , how much of tooth structure is compromised a clinician would advise the necessary measures . Fillings may last quite a bit but since the tooth would be subjected to forces of mastication , an improper bite or excessive load can lead to fracture of the filling or tooth structure ultimately leading to a failure of the root canal treatment. Thus external support and strength in the form of a cap is required. Both metal and ceramic , zirconia crowns are good enough for a molar. Zirconia crowns are stronger and aesthetic hence that would be order of preference.
Next Steps
Kindly visit have a look at the crowns and get one done at the earliest.

It is advisable to go for a cap after root canal treatment as after the due course of the RCT, the surrounding tooth structure gets weak ,full ceramic cap of a qood quality will be more advisable rather than a metal ceramic one as the ceramic layer on the metal has more chances of getting chipped off in the future
Next Steps
Please refer to your dentist and get a cap done at the earliest

I appreciate u giving second life to your molar tooth to function as Normal tooth..Root canal treated tooth will not have any blood supply and Nerve supply inside tooth because during Root canal treatment (RCT) everything will be cleaned and DENTAL PULP tissue which has blood capillaries and Nerves will be removed completely..So Tooth will become dummy, brittle and become more prone to fracture if we chew on Hard foods..Thats why to increase strength of the tooth we need to restore with Cap/Crown..The it can withstand forces like Normal tooth.. In my opinion DMLS Cap is better for Molar tooth ..If u don’t want metal inside crown better to go for ZIRCONIA MONOLITH Crown with equal to or more than 10 year warranty..Thank you…

Cap is as important as RCT...cap will bear the chewing load and with cap tooth will be saved for much longer time...go for cap and best cap is decided according to the space available between upper and lower tooth and also the cost... Zirconia is best

Post root canal treatment its better to go for crowns ( cap) especially in molar teeth since the masticatory load will be more and root canal treated cannot handle such load and might fracture.. There are varieties of crown like full ceramic or metal ceramic or ceramic facing .. it will be decided based on clinicians choice after preparing the tooth based on space available between upper and lower teeth Any crown post root canal is better than waiting for the best thing to be done
Next Steps
To visit dentist for procedure once your concerns have been answered by them
