Drink 8–10 glasses of water daily—it helps flush out uric acid from the body. Avoid high-purine foods like red meat, organ meat (liver, kidney), shellfish, and fish like sardines and mackerel. Cut down on full-fat milk, cheese, and cream—use toned or low-fat milk instead. Limit intake of dal with skin (like masoor), rajma, chana, and moong for now—small quantity is okay. Avoid alcohol and sugary drinks (colas, packaged juices)—they increase uric acid and cholesterol both. Avoid bakery food, fried food, namkeen, chips, and maida-based items—they raise LDL (bad cholesterol). Use oils like olive oil, rice bran oil, or mustard oil. Eat more fibre-rich food—oats, barley, brown rice, whole wheat roti, and fruits with skin (apple, pear). Include fruits like cherries, apple, berries, papaya, and oranges—they help reduce uric acid. Add vegetables like lauki, tinda, karela, bhindi, cabbage, and palak—steamed or lightly cooked. Use garlic, methi seeds, flaxseeds, and turmeric in your cooking—they support heart health. Avoid egg yolk and organ meats—if eating eggs, take only the white part. Try to walk at least 30 minutes daily—it helps manage both cholesterol and uric acid. If your weight is high, losing 4–5 kg will give great improvement. Get your levels checked again after 1–2 months of following this routine.
Next Steps
Avoid adding table salt, extra oil, or heavy tadka to your meals. This helps reduce unnecessary sodium and unhealthy fats, supporting better heart health and overall wellness.

As a dietitianI believe dietary changes are important to reduce uric acid and cholesterol levels. To control your uric acid levels, avoid purine rich foods like shell fish, sardines, red meat, prawns. Avoid alcohol, especially beer, as it increases uric acid levels. Include more antioxidant rich foods from fruits and vegetables. For reducing LDL cholesterol, increase fiber intake from whole grains, legumes and fruits. Reduce fried and processed foods, butter, cheese and full-fat milk, paneer and curd. Include healthy fats like nuts, seeds, avocados and fatty fish like salmon, mackerel. Maintain regular exercise routine along with diet.
