High blood pressure
Hello doctor. My father is 49. His BP is 147/90. I know this is high but is it that bad? Can it be reversed? I'm worried for him. He has a habit of sprinkling salt in his diet.

He should check his BP morning and evening for about 7-10 days. He should go for morning walk , about 2 km initially. He can have a glass of luke warm water before going for walks. He should avoid spicy and fried foods. He should cut salt in his diet. He should avoid alcohol and smoking. All these factors will help him.
Next Steps
He can consult me on Practo with his history of investigation and medication if he has taken earlier.

If bp is high it can cause damage to heart brain or kidneys However we have good medication to reduce it Along with regular exercise your father can keep it under control and lead a normal life It is better if he discontinues the habit of adding extra salt
