Foamy or flaky-looking urine does not by itself mean CKD, and the fact that it appears only in some urine samples can occur for several reasons, including concentrated urine, crystals or other urinary changes. However, since you have had this repeatedly for months and now have mild burning while passing urine, it is better to investigate rather than assume it is simply due to low water intake. Persistent foam can sometimes indicate protein in the urine.
Next Steps
I would recommend doing a urine routine/microscopy and urine ACR (albumin-creatinine ratio) rather than waiting to see whether increasing water intake makes it disappear. ACR is a preferred test for detecting albumin in urine. Because you also have burning, a urine culture may be appropriate, particularly if the routine urine test suggests infection. It would also be useful to check serum creatinine/eGFR, blood pressure and, considering your history of kidney stones, review your previous ultrasound reports. You do not need to force excessive amounts of water before testing. Maintain normal adequate hydration and avoid dehydration; the urine should generally be pale yellow.
Health Tips
Please don't become alarmed about CKD based only on the appearance of your urine. A single abnormal urine result does not establish chronic kidney disease; persistent albuminuria needs confirmation over time. Once the reports are available, they can be reviewed together to determine whether this is related to dehydration, crystals/stones, urinary infection, proteinuria or another cause. An individualized homoeopathic approach can then be considered alongside appropriate medical evaluation. If you develop fever, significant flank/back pain, visible blood in urine, vomiting, swelling of the legs/face or markedly reduced urine output, seek prompt medical attention.

Hello practo user Yes, you should first increase your water intake. Also there is no UTI shown as per the attached reports. But to know the actual cause of foamy urine, need to go for a detailed case history to know all the possible reasons. Based on that, your treatment plan can be suggested in Homeopathy. You can consult me online on 787781821five.

Dear Madam, Please don't panic. Foamy urine by itself does not necessarily mean chronic kidney disease (CKD). There are several possible reasons for intermittent foam in the urine, and many of them are not related to serious kidney disease. From the history you have provided: You have had foamy urine intermittently for several months. You have a history of low water intake since childhood. You have had kidney stones in the past. You are experiencing mild burning during urination. Your weight is 35 kg, which is quite low and also needs evaluation. You mention that only some urine samples appear foamy while others are completely normal. If the foam appears only occasionally and disappears quickly, it may simply be due to: Concentrated urine from inadequate water intake. A forceful urine stream. Small amounts of mucus or vaginal discharge mixing with the urine. Residual toilet cleaning agents in the toilet bowl. However, persistent or repeatedly occurring foamy urine, especially if associated with swelling of the legs or face, high blood pressure, or reduced urine output, should be evaluated to rule out protein loss in the urine. Since you also have burning during urination and a previous history of kidney stones, I would advise a proper evaluation rather than assuming it is CKD. I would recommend: Increase your water intake gradually to around 2–2.5 liters per day (unless you have been advised to restrict fluids by your doctor or have heart/kidney disease). Avoid holding urine for long periods. Repeat a fresh early morning urine routine examination. Get a Urine Albumin-to-Creatinine Ratio (ACR), as it is a more sensitive test for detecting small amounts of protein in the urine. Kidney Function Tests (Serum Creatinine, Blood Urea, eGFR). Ultrasound KUB if there is persistent burning or to look for recurrent stones. If burning persists despite a normal routine urine test, a urine culture may also be required to rule out a low-grade urinary infection. Since your weight is only 35 kg, it would also be worthwhile to assess your nutritional status and look for any underlying medical conditions if this is not your usual healthy weight. Based on the information you've shared, CKD cannot be diagnosed or ruled out solely on the basis of intermittent foamy urine. Most young individuals with these symptoms do not have advanced kidney disease, but appropriate evaluation is important to identify the exact cause and provide timely treatment. if you are intrested please call us for cosultation on pur clinic numbers Regards Dr Jyoti Kadkol Health Global Homoeoepathy, Vijayanagar, Whitefield(Hoodi)Bangalore www.healthglobalclinics.com

Hi, I have reviewed your report. According to the report, there is only trace protein in the urine. Based on these findings, there is no need to worry at this stage. From the symptoms you have described and the urine analysis report, we cannot conclude that you have Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD). Since you have a history of kidney stones, the trace protein may be due to the passage of small stone particles. Also, you have not reported any fever or ankle swelling. I strongly advise you to drink at least 4 litres of water daily and make appropriate changes to your dietary habits. Please maintain good personal hygiene and take precautions to prevent infections from spreading through the genital area into the urinary tract. Hai, Its Cystitis or inflammation of bladder (Urine has epithelial cells). There is mild infection to kidney, thats why urine is having trace proteins... Frothy urine is due to proteins( albumin) in urine... Better to check Blood urine and kidney function test, so that we could find the stage of your infection. Its not CKD but infection. Do these test and contact. No worries... Nothing serious... Drink 2.5-3 litres of water/ day Take juicy fruits Never hold urine Avoid coffee and pickles

Based on your history, I would not diagnose CKD solely based on intermittent foamy urine. Foamy urine is a nonspecific finding and can occur due to concentrated urine, dehydration, rapid urinary flow, or even toilet surface factors. Since you mention that the foam is present only in some episodes and you have a history of low water intake, dehydration is a likely contributing factor. Your history of kidney stones and low water intake also raises the possibility of concentrated urine or urinary crystals (crystalluria), which may sometimes appear as white flakes or patches in the urine. Increasing your daily water intake is important not only to improve urine concentration but also to help prevent recurrent kidney stones. The mild burning sensation during urination could be due to urinary tract irritation, passage of microscopic crystals, or an early urinary tract infection. Although your routine urine examination was normal, mild infections or crystalluria may occasionally be missed on a single routine test. If the burning persists or worsens, I would recommend a repeat urine routine with microscopy and, if clinically indicated, a urine culture. Since your routine urine examination was normal, significant kidney disease is less likely. However, if the foamy urine persists despite adequate hydration, I would advise getting a Urine Albumin-to-Creatinine Ratio (ACR), which is more sensitive than a routine urine test for detecting early protein leakage. I would also recommend checking serum creatinine and eGFR to assess kidney function if symptoms continue. For now, I would advise you to increase your water intake to around 2–2.5 litres per day (unless you have been advised otherwise due to another medical condition) and monitor whether the foamy urine improves over the next few days. Maintaining adequate hydration is especially important considering your history of kidney stones. I also notice that your body weight is 35 kg, which is significantly below the expected range for an adult female. This should be evaluated separately to rule out nutritional deficiencies, endocrine disorders, gastrointestinal conditions, or other chronic illnesses, as it is an important health concern. I would recommend consulting me for a detailed evaluation so that I can correlate your symptoms with your clinical history

Your urine report does not strongly suggest a urinary infection. Trace protein and foamy urine can occur due to low water intake, but persistent symptoms should be evaluated further with urine ACR, kidney function tests, and an ultrasound if advised. Homoeopathic treatment may help address the underlying tendency after a detailed case evaluation. For consultation, you can connect with me.
