I need a detailed history of the patient. Nothing to worry if only mildly raised ESR with normal CRP. As patient is pre diabetic, Esr might be elevated due to metabolic syndrome.
Next Steps
Further tests CBC, Lipid profile, SGOT, SGPT, sr. uric acid, sr. Creatinine, Urine ACR, HbA1C, FBS, PBBS. Repeat ESR after 2-4 weeks. Monitor BP
Health Tips
Regular exercise (30-40 min daily) Maintain healthy weight and diet Ensure adequate sleep

An ESR of 30 mm/hr (normal 0–15) is mildly elevated, while CRP is normal. Interpretation: • ESR is a nonspecific marker • CRP reflects active inflammation • When ESR is mildly elevated but CRP is normal, it usually indicates: • Low-grade chronic inflammation • Recent minor infection • Obesity • Mild metabolic inflammation • Sometimes no clinically significant issue Since HbA1c is borderline prediabetic, mild metabolic inflammation can also slightly elevate ESR. Important point: Isolated ESR elevation (with normal CRP and no symptoms) is rarely dangerous. ESR can also increase due to: • Anemia • Obesity • Age • Autoimmune conditions (usually CRP also rises) Without symptoms (fever, joint pain, weight loss, chronic cough), this finding is usually not alarming.
Next Steps
✔ Check if CBC shows anemia ✔ Repeat ESR after 4–6 weeks ✔ Monitor HbA1c and fasting glucose ✔ Maintain weight control If patient has symptoms like: • Persistent joint pain • Morning stiffness • Unexplained fever • Weight loss Then further autoimmune workup may be required. If asymptomatic → observation is reasonable.
Health Tips
✔ Improve diet (reduce refined carbs) ✔ Regular exercise (30–40 min daily) ✔ Maintain healthy weight ✔ Ensure adequate sleep ✔ Avoid unnecessary repeated testing without symptoms Mild ESR elevation alone does not diagnose any disease. If you’d like, I can review the full report (CBC, lipid profile, liver function, kidney function) to see if there is any subtle pattern linking ESR and prediabetes. Booking an online consultation will help interpret everything in context instead of evaluating numbers in isolation.

Hello, An ESR of 30 is mildly elevated. Since your CRP is normal, this usually does not suggest a serious active infection. ESR can increase due to mild inflammation, recent infection, anemia, stress, obesity, or even hormonal factors. Borderline prediabetes also needs lifestyle correction but is reversible. What to do next: • Repeat ESR after 4–6 weeks • Check CBC to rule out anemia • Focus on weight control and exercise • Monitor HbA1c every 3–6 months If you have symptoms like joint pain, fever, fatigue, or weight loss, further evaluation is needed. A proper consultation with full report review will help decide if this is harmless or needs deeper investigation.
