EMI reflecting in overweight
Hello doctor. My age is 32 . Weight is 88 kgs. I'm 6 ft tall with a muscular physique as I'm into fitness and weight lifting for the last 10 years. As per BMI calculation, it shows that my weight range should be anywhere between 65 -80 and more than 80 is categorized as overweight and above 96 is obese. Currently my weight is 88 kg. Bcos of corona lockdown from the month of March, I couldn't hit the gym and work from home sedentary life increased my weight from 81 to 88 kgs. Now, I feel so heavy. Within 5 mins of jogging, I feel heavy breathing and pain in my legs. As overweight and obesity are the root cause of most of the health problem which includes blood pressure, type 2 diabetes , cholesterol and joint pain. I would like to know the exact root cause of weight gain. Is it bcos of accumulation of excess body fat or muscle . Is there any specific test to check the body fat percentage. ? Do I need to lose muscle or fat or weight. I'm confused. Kindly provide ur suggestions

Hi Your present BMI indicates overweight, not obese..as per the parameters Age, Height and Weight.. Your ideal weight should be 73.1 kgs..and you are overweight by 14.9 kgs .However your body fat percentage is 22.7.. The exact root cause for weight gain is body fat and loss of muscle..both..as both happens simultaneously... You can check body fat percentage with BCA ( Body Composition Analysis ) where in you come to know all your present body statistics including BMI, BMR, Fat percentage, Water percentage, Visceral body fat, Waist to hip ratio, Abdominal fat percentage, Fat free mass etc vital parameters...basing on that you get a clear picture of your body basing on that you can further decide upon..moving forward.. You should always gain muscle I,e fat free mass and loose body fat...which is ever healthy .. For further details contact through practo for a personalized diet plan Thankyou

Hi, You are overweight by 5-7 kgs and need to reduce weight.Your waist circumference and waist hip ratio can predict whether you are in high risk or not. Greater than 25% body fat for males comes under the criteria of obesity. Greater than 40 BMI comes under grade3 obesity which indicates high risk but can be controlled by modification of regular eating habits and daily walk and aerobic exercises.
Next Steps
You can reach me through practo to get a personalised diet plan according to your height, weight, BMI, daily activity pattern, regular eating habits, health status etc. which will help you to reduce weight and body fat without compromising your muscle mass and body requirements ( energy and nutritional requirements).
