Yes it  can persist.
Next Steps
consult with your surgeon and some anti inflammatory tablets may be required along with physiotherapy

Pain and swelling is bound to stay. You can initiate the Physiotherapy exercises initiated by the surgeon. This will help reduce the pain and swelling. Consult with ortho surgeon for further plan of treatment.
