My father age around 55 is suffering from diabetes but it's well in control ,what happen is he is become very thin and I am unable to see him like this , please suggest him some foods so that he should gain his weight .

For losing weight in a healthy and permanent way :

First and foremost please consult doctor to ensure things are fine and to find out if there’s any thyroid issue like over active thyroid etc...as over production of thyroxin harmon more than the cut off levels can make one very thin over a period with hyper activity and an over raised metabolic status...
So just to make sure that his thyroid levels are under control kindly make a blood test done for him ASAP.. and any other tests if doctor mentions..
And with that reports and details I would be able to give better dietary suggestion and lifestyle modifications for him that are suitable to his metabolic needs...
