Daily diet and nutrition
I have 67 years of age. I am a heart patient and diabetic but it's controlled as of now. My daily morning routine involves 10km cycling + 4km walking + 15 mins gymming + half hour pranayama from 6am to 8:30am Please let me know what should be my diet schedule as per the exercises I do, How much should be protein intake? Thanks Garg

Hello, It's good to see that you are engaging yourself in physical activity but you need to make sure that diet too should be well balanced in all nutrients.. Protein intake should be high.. Avoid trans fats, processed foods, include unsaturated fats coming from fish, watermelon seeds, chia seeds.. Restrict your sodium intake.. Stay hydrated

Yes u take plenty of vegetables,fruits and greengram sprouts. Mixed millets as grains,flour are best substitute for rice and wheat.,for obtaining daily requirement of proteins  minimumcarbohydrates ,and maximum fibres which u need.Also micronutrients as Ca,Fe, Ph,. Also millets have low glycaemic index so verymuch beneficial for diabetic patients. Whole gram as greengram ,bengalgram,are rich in zn,vit B12, and the best for satiety.

Diabetes and heart disease can not be cured it can be treated by changing life style ,eating pattern . Due to workout add protein with ur carb in each meal . After workout take protein rich smoothies . Add seeds,soaked nuts  in diet Some home remedies to maintain sugar level .

avoid refined sugars, jaggary, honey, juice and soft drinks, avoid salts, reduce to 2-3 gms per day, since, you exercise a lot, watch for hypoglycemia , reguraly check with your glucometer.
