Blood pressure
I have started taking my BP this morning to check how my BP is as I have family history. After waking up straight i took it was 150/90 i went to the washroom rested for sometime like 2 hours and then I took it was 133/82 is it normal for BP to have like this. Even I have anxiety issues so my BP spikes during anxiety which I have observed and I am already taking therapy for my anxiety. I do regular walks and yoga too. I got to know when my BP is high as I get some tingling feeling in my hands and feet. I have done my all tests ECG echo lipid profile all blood tests everything normal except my cholesterol marginal high for which I am doing diet change lifestyle. Is there anything to worry about? Or does the BP keep fluctuating like this? Is it normal to fluctuate BP. I am really worried pls advise as I don't want to be on BP medicine. Thank you 🙏🏻

BP fluctuations throughout the day is normal. No need to worry as all the tests are normal. Eat healthy food and  avoid too much salt and oily food.

Since you are only 37 years a trial of lifestyle modifications can be done but with caution, please continue to check your BP at the same time once in three days and note it down. If your BP seems to be exceeding beyond 140/90 very often,let’s say 3/5 readings are high then please do consult your physician. As for lifestyle modifications: 1.Low salt diet- not more than a pinch or two 2.Less oily food- not more than 2.5 tsps of oil a day 3.Cut down on junk and oily fried food 4.Increase intake of antioxidant rich food-oranges,lemons,blueberries,apple,kiwi 5.EXERCISE-moderate to brisk walking 5 times/week for 39 minutes. 6.Avoid sleeping late at night everyday 7.Continue practicing yoga and relaxation techniques 8.Drink plenty of water and clear fluids For further care or doubts kindly contact Thank You

As for your age no need to worry for now No need to start on any anti hypertensive medication Have low salt diet do aerobic exercise and have follow up monthly for bp monitoring If thyroid profile is not done kindly Do TFT

Now I am not suggesting you take any hypertensive medicine but you need to do diet modification ( salt restriction, decrease oily food), do 30 minutes of exercise every day and monitor your blood pressure for 1 week and record on paper. After consult to physician if that is more than 150/90 most of time

At this time you don't need to take antihypertensive s.Monitor your BP twice daily.Measure the BP 3 times, don't consider the first reading.Continue with the yoga ,salt restriction other diet habits and atleast 30 minutes of physical activity for 5 days in a week.your BP is maintained around 130/80 after a while .

Usually the resting BP , just at the time of waking up should be normal but in your case it is on higher side and after some time it becomes normal . You have undergone so many tests and all are normal . Probably it is due to anxiety . Do some meditation and yoga and relaxation exercises, and don’t measure BP very frequently as some patients become apprehensive, when they start taking BP and it may come normal when it settles down . What is your sleep pattern ? Is there any other trigger factor for anxiety . ?

Take bp readings 2 times a day for 3 days. Morning 8am and evening 6pm. Don't take coffee or tea within 1 hour.
