It makes sense that reading frightening stories online has increased your fear around sleep — our minds often react strongly to worst-case examples. The good news is that you are sleeping daily, which shows that your body still has a healthy sleep rhythm. The fear is coming from anxiety, not from an actual sleep problem.
Next Steps
Try to reduce exposure to alarming posts, practice simple relaxation before bed (slow breathing, light stretching, calming music), and remind yourself that the cases you mentioned were due to many complex factors — not ordinary insomnia.
Health Tips
If worries keep looping or make it hard to sleep peacefully, speaking with a mental health professional can help you learn tools to manage anxiety and regain confidence in your body’s natural ability to rest. You’re not alone, and this fear is very treatable with the right support.

Hi Thanks for reaching out. For how long have you been having fear of no sleep. You feel anxious before sleeping because you have read certain comments about insomnia. You have read about Michael Jackson and Heath Ledger using sleeping pills and it is making you feel anxious. A celebrity using sleeping pills has nothing to do with you. Avoid reading too much about insomnia online. It is a condition that can be managed. There is a lot of anxiety and fear about insomnia. Consult a psychologist and talk about your fear about insomnia. A psychologist will guide you on how you can keep your mind relaxed. You are having unnecessary worry and fear about insomnia. Avoid reading too much about celebrities using sleeping pills. It seems to be an IAD which is a type of health anxiety. It needs to be treated asap otherwise it may get complicated. It needs to be addressed in a holistic approach for complete recovery. It can be well treated with counseling sessions and homeopathic medicine effectively and without any side effects. You need an expert psychologist who is a good homeopathic physician.
Next Steps
I have been working as a Homeopathic Psychiatrist and Counseling psychologist for the last 17 years of experience. You can contact me through an online appointment for further assistance.

Hi, do you have any diagnosis of insomnia yet? Or are you facing any kind of stress which can contribute in sleeplessness? Insomnia is painful but first of all we need a diagnosis and early intervention can help. The most important thing is you are not facing the issue till date. Hi, It seems you’re experiencing anxiety and fear around not being able to sleep, even though you do sleep. This often happens when worries or negative information about insomnia cause overthinking. Try limiting exposure to such content, practice relaxation before bed (like slow breathing or stretching), and maintain a calm bedtime routine. If the fear continues, speaking with a psychologist can help you manage anxiety and feel more at ease about sleep.

Try to start with small steps — gentle breathing exercises (like inhaling slowly for 4 seconds, holding for 4, exhaling for 6) can calm your body a bit. Keeping a routine with regular meals, enough sleep, and short walks also helps stabilize your mood.
Next Steps
It might also help to talk to a counselor or psychologist who can guide you through this. You deserve support and peace of mind.

I completely understand — dealing with sleep difficulties, especially after trying things like melatonin without much relief, can feel really disheartening and draining. Let’s take a step back and look at this together. We’ll explore some realistic and whole-person strategies to support the restful sleep your body and mind are needing.
Next Steps
Activity 1: Practice relaxation techniques such as deep breathing exercises or mindful breathing before bedtime to promote better sleep quality. Activity 2: Establish a consistent sleep schedule by going to bed and waking up at the same time every day, even on weekends, to regulate your body's internal clock. Activity 3: Create a calming bedtime routine, such as reading a book or taking a warm bath, to signal to your body that it's time to wind down and prepare for sleep.
Health Tips
Schedule a consultation with a psychologist like myself, as it looks like the symptoms are significantly interfering with daily functioning.

It's natural for your mind to feel anxious after hearing negative stories about insomnia or people suffering due to sleep issues. The stories you mentioned, like those of Heath Ledger and Michael Jackson, involved many complex factors—including drug misuse and underlying health problems—which are not part of your reality. Fears can grow stronger when we focus on rare or extreme cases, especially when paired with anxiety.
Next Steps
1. Practice relaxation techniques before bedtime, such as deep breathing, meditation, or progressive muscle relaxation. 2. Keep a regular sleep schedule: Wake up and go to bed at the same time every day, even on weekends. 3. Limit exposure to distressing stories: Reduce the amount of time spent reading or watching negative accounts about sleep problems. 4. Challenge negative thoughts: Notice when you start to worry about extreme outcomes and gently remind yourself that you are currently safe and healthy. 5. Consider professional support: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I) is highly effective for managing both sleep difficulties and the fears associated with them.

Hi, I'm glad you reached out about your concerns. It's understandable to feel anxious when you come across negative information about sleep and health, especially when it triggers fears about death or severe health issues. First, remember that occasional anxiety about sleep is common, but it can become a cycle that makes falling asleep harder. To help calm your mind, try to establish a relaxing bedtime routine, such as reading, gentle breathing exercises, or meditation, which can reduce anxiety and promote relaxation. Avoid looking at disturbing comments or news about sleep problems before bed, as this can increase worry. Focus on creating a comfortable sleep environment and maintaining a regular sleep schedule. If your anxiety persists or worsens, consider talking to a mental health professional or a sleep specialist who can provide you with personalized strategies and reassurance. Remember, most sleep issues are manageable, and seeking support is a positive step toward restful and tension-free sleep.
