Thumb sucking in adulthood can be linked to stress or anxiety. The act of sucking one's thumb can provide a sense of comfort and security, acting as a coping mechanism in response to stressors or emotional triggers. People unconsciously resort to such behaviors as a way to self-soothe.
Understanding the root causes and identifying triggers that lead to thumb sucking can be crucial in addressing this habit. Exploring these aspects with a mental health professional can help understand underlying issues and provide strategies to cope with stress in healthier ways.
Hi. I appreciate you talking about your concern.
As per given information, adult thumb- sucking may be a comfort seeking behaviour linked to stress and anxiety.
