Dr. Vikas Punamiya

Dr. Vikas Punamiya underwent postgraduate training in Pulmonary Medicine from Sir J. J. Group of Hospitals. Subsequently, he spent the next 10 years in United Kingdom & Australia where he trained in the newer techniques in Respiratory Medicine, Diagnostic & Interventional bronchoscopy, Intensive Care Medicine, especially Non - Invasive Ventilation as well as specialized in Sleep Disorders.After returning from UK, he had been working with Sir HN Reliance Foundation Hospital, where he assisted in setting up the Pulmonary & Sleep Medicine Department. He subsequently decided to join private practice & is currently affiliated with Breach Candy Hospital, Gleneagles Global Hospital & Punamiya Hospital, Mumbai.His areas of interest are Endobronchial Ultrasound Bronchoscopy, a helpful technology in diagnosing & staging Lung Cancer, as well as diagnosing causes of mediastinal lymph node enlargement; Medical Thoracoscopy & its application in Pleural diseases; Non – Invasive ventilation (Acute & Domiciliary); & Sleep & Sleep related Breathing Disorders. He has also set up a state of art Sleep Laboratory at Punamiya Hospital for detailed sleep studies.He manages all general respiratory problems such as Asthma, COPD, Bronchiectasis, Interstitial Lung Diseases, Tuberculosis & Multidrug - Resistant Tuberculosis, Benign Pleural Diseases, Pleural & Lung cancers.He has conducted audits & has been part of clinical trials during his training, presenting at international conferences & has been published in International peer-reviewed journals.
