Wisdom tooth eruption hurts several people across the globe. Why is it so??? Let's find out in this blog the reasons for it.

Wisdom teeth are the last teeth to erupt in the mouth after the age of 16 years approximately. By the time wisdom teeth begin to erupt, the jaw bones have completed their growth and development.

In many cases there isn't enough space in the jaw for wisdom teeth to erupt properly.  As a result....

⦁Wisdom teeth don't erupt at all.

⦁They partially erupt.

⦁Erupt in wrong directions instead of coming upright in the oral cavity.

All this leads to loose pockets in gums leading to subsequent food lodgement and its deterioration in the wisdom tooth area leading to infection, inflammation, abscess, swelling and pain.

OTHER REASONS OF PAIN:

⦁Location of wisdom teeth in corners of mouth makes it difficult to keep the area clean and hygienic.

⦁Nerve proximity with inferior alveolar nerve.

⦁Gum bite and irritation to gums.

⦁In some cases wisdom teeth also cause erosional cavities in 2nd molars leading to pain.

⦁Decayed wisdom tooth.

So whenever a wisdom tooth hurts it is very important to visit a dentist and get the cause of pain treated.
