"Summer/ winter/ autumn" moving season is upon us!

It is easy to get overwhelmed during the moving process  your typical habits; especially when it comes to eating well. It’s all too easy to pick something up at the store when you are moving. But guess what? When we’re busy and stressed out, our bodies are being pushed past their normal limits. Fast food is not going to cut it!

One can follow following guidelines while moving out:

-Don't miss out meals. Even short journeys can run down your energy levels. The stress of rush hour traffic or crowded trains can take it's toll. By planning ahead you can make sure you have healthy food at hand. so make time for meal in the morning before you set out and carry snacks with you for your journey.

 Try these foods:

  • Fruits such as apple, pear, oranges, banana etc.
  • Dried fruit and nuts
  • Rusk or digestive biscuits
  • lemon rice/ veg. pulao
  • veg. salads
  • stuffed parantha/ chapatti
  • stuffed sandwiches
  • baked oatmeal
  • hard boiled eggs
  • vegetable wraps, etc.
  • yoghurt.

-Foods like these are easy to carry. Make sure you get enough water to drink so that you don't become dehydrated. Keep water or small tetra packs of fruit juices, coconut water and lassi handy. Carry own water when out of the house.

-Pack more snacks than you think you’ll need. It’s better to have some leftovers than to have to purchase something at a rest stop.

-unclean raw fruits and vegetables can cause food poisoning, diarrhea or water borne disease such as hepatitis, typhoid etc

-Also be careful when eating chutneys, raw onions, pickles, raita's etc

-Salad leaves or raw cabbage is often found in fast food so be careful with these foods especially in summer or monsoon when power cuts are at their peak and water is often contaminated.

-Research local grocery stores or other food sources in your new town before you get there.

-Pack up your meals in separate containers for each person. This will be a more convenient option if you’re eating in the car. Instead of pulling out all of the food items and handing them out individually, you can hand each person a complete lunch.

Hence, it's better to plan before you move !! enjoy JOURNEY TO HEALTH.
