Leukoplakia is the development of thickened and white patches over tongue, inner part of cheeks or other parts of oral cavity. This is premalignant lesion . Means It can turn into cancer.
Cause – due to chronic irritation of buccal mucosa probably due to smoking and tobacco.
Treatment – There is no definite treatment of leukoplakia. You should consult oncologist. Patient should avoid smoking and limit alcohol intake. Regular follow up is needed to know early detection of cancer
