We need 40 to 60 gms of fibre daily but with current food habits, polishing, refining, processing of the foods, etc. We get 5 to 12 gms of fibre only in regular diet, that means we have 8 to 10 times the deficit of fibre. The other reason is that because of too many pesticides and preservatives, people have stopped eating whole veg and fruits which you could get rid in simple ways.
