The tooth buds are formed as early as at 6 weeks of a baby’s intra-uterine life. And their appearance is made at around 6 months of an infant’s life. That one small white mass developing on the lower arch can be quite a stormy mess. Joy is to see your baby grow teeth but the tyranny to follow can be a nightmare. As the teeth try to make their presence felt by tearing right through the gums, the pain and feeling is quite discomforting. Kids specially then wants to chew everything seen and handed over. So much so that feeding mothers might be the victims to their teething baby phase. At 6 months of age the lower two central teeth start showing up with following symptoms of pain, diarrhoea, vomiting and strong urges to chew on things. This urge sometimes makes them eat wrong things adding to the severity of symptoms. As the successive ones begin to make their presence it just gets worse, the baby wants to get rid of the discomfort but the only expression is a stormy, cranky moan. They make teeth their weapons to attack every possible thing around.

On the contrary, for some kids its a pleasant tryst with teething. The discomfort is minimal and the teeth erupt without even the slightest mention of trouble.

Trystal tyranny:- personal experience

The views and experiments shared by moms worldwide (dentists and otherwise) were much an insight into the debate.

“I have experimented with many things to make the teething experience pleasant for my baby...I used Myochew (From myobrace), teething beads, Sophie the giraffe - French as well as from Srilanka, silicone and wooden teethers, Tilasmi moti...Baby had two teeth which were uneventful...I Am still on the journey to discover what really helps.”-Dr. Varsha Daryanani

Such experiences also put a light on the Myochew and what a blessing it has been in disguise. The Myochew has been specially designed for young children to encourage nasal breathing and improve the function of the tongue and chewing muscles, while bristle projections assist with oral hygiene. The appliance is also suitable for special needs children, who are especially prone to the previously mentioned issues.

Myochew advantages:

1. It's like a brushing aid and helps to clean the teeth in early stages of eruption.

2. Increases muscle tone of the jaws

3. Encourages babies to breathe through their nose. Likewise some mothers experimented with aids that pointed a success as much to follow.

“The thought of a teething baby, is every mom's nightmare, well almost! Being a dentist myself, I was always aware that the teething process itself does not cause loose motions, fever etc, but the itchy, swollen gums makes the baby want to mouth every thing that he/she can lay hands on, and all those different objects are definitely coated with dust and some or the other form of dirt which actually causes illness! I refrained from giving any oral medication that claims to soothe the gums and make teething simpler. But one external aid I definitely did take help of, and that is known as "tilasmi moti"!I had been told about these teething beads which you make the child wear around its neck, by so many people that I found it hard to ignore! And the fact that it was something external, I was willing to give it a shot as I saw no harm. To my pleasant surprise, my baby's teething journey was absolutely uneventful, which may or may not be due to the teething beads!Although there is absolutely no scientific backing to this, it's definitely worth a shot.”

An insight on Tilasmi moti tells us:

Tilasmi moti pendant is made of combination of five metals in specific proportion. It come in form of a small pearl which is a natural harmonizer of energies around the oral cavity.

How does Tilsmi Moti work?

The pendant or bead lets out certain magnetic forces just like copper rheumatism bracelets, which help to relieve the pain experienced by babies during teething. It comes in the form of a small pearl which is a natural harmonizer of energies around the face and the oral cavity of the child.

Mamta, a mom of two states that she had no trouble with teething for both her kids as she used concoctions available off the shelf at homeopathic pharmacies. While Isabella writes in saying that Teething necklace was her life saviour.
