Tibialis anterior tenosynovitis is a painful condition ofthe anterior leg caused by an overuse injury due to repetitive footdorsiflexion (lifting).

The tibialis anterior tendon connects the tibialis anteriormuscle to the tarsal bone. And help to control actions such as jumping andrunning. This tendon covers by a protective sheath known as synovium and thissheath produces synovial fluid, which keeps the tibialis anterior tendonlubricated.

Injury to the tendon may result in the malfunction of thesheath and the sheath fail to produce synovial fluid, this can causeinflammation or swelling of the sheath.
