Winter is here and with it comes season of warm sunlights, benefits of colored vegetables and cozy nights. But with it also comes skin and hair woes especially dry skin and frizzy hair. These are the tips to manage your skin and hair in winter and enjoy it fully!

1. Hard to shake off Dryness in skin:

-Avoid overwashing or use of very hot water to wash your face or body.

-Indulge in night creams which are richer in mositurizing factors mainly both emollient and humectants.

-Follow moisturizer with a skin friendly oil like jojoba oil or rosehip oil.

-If you have acne prone skin, consult your physician to seek proper treatment to use with skin care so that they increase each other efficacy and do not interfere with each other.

2. Never skip the sunscreen even indoors and reapply every 2 hours if outdoors.

- Use at least spf 50 and additional UV A protection. We need at least spf 50 because the amount we apply can not give sufficient protection if we use spf30 or less.

- Reapply on sun exposed area if outside. Use a lotion on body and a powder or sunscreen stick can be used over make up on face for reapplication.

- If you are pregnant, consult with your doctor to see if ingredients in your sunscreen are safe or not. Usually physical sunscreen are preferred in pregnancy rather than chemical sunscreen.

3. Avoid frizzy hair by providing extra mositure.

- Use moisturizing hair oil on hair ends like coconut oil, jojoba oil or almond oil before shampooing.

- Use scalp balancing shampoo to avoid greasy scalp. Shampoo twice to get rid of all the buildups. It will help you increase interval between hair washes.

- Use conditioner or hair masks on hair ends.

- Avoid Overwashing your hair. 2 or 3 times a week is enough.

- Dry scalp massages with fingers or scalp massaging brush help to stimulate hair follicle and also helps to produce natural oil.

- If you have dandruff or hair infestation, do consult your doctor immediately.

4.  Use satin pillow covers to sleep at night.

It helps in reducing wrinkles, acne and frizzy hair.

Happy Winters!
