Dr. Vijay Deshmukh: Dental Implants are Titanium Tapereddevices. These implants are 7mm to 15mm long and placed in jaw bone after theloss of natural teeth. After 3 months, a crown is cemented on it.
Q: You are considered a pioneer in Dental Implant inIndia?
Dr. Vijay Deshmukh:Implant Dentistry started in 80’s in India. In 1990 I did Dental Implantresearch and subsequently I did my first case in 1993. Then I went to Germanyfor Advance training in Implantology. Worked with “Implant Institute” inGermany. We were a few Implantologist in India that time. I did lots ofpioneering work in Bone Regeneration around Implant. My clinical presentationsat National & International conferences were on “Implant Esthetics”. I wonDr. Barucha Award in 1993 & 1994 for “Best Scientific Paper in ImplantDentistry”. It is more than 21years I am in Implant practice.
