Which is better-milk or curd? Many people would like to know the answer to this common question.
Both milk & curds have similar composition and there is no difference between their nutritive values. However, curd has increased health benefits in general.
* Curd is easy to digest: the proteins in curd are more easily digested than the protein in the milk and also absorbed more easily due to the fact that they are " pre-digested" by the bacteria present. It has been estimated that regular milk is only 32% digested after an hour whereas 91% o curd is digested within the same period of time.

*Great for those who are lactose- intolerant.

*Curd may also be used in preventing antibiotic associated diarrheoa

*Curd helps to boost immunity, curd strengthens our overall resistance, it stimulates immune system to produce more protective enzymes. Bacteria present in curd prevents potential cancer causing compounds in the body from turning into active cancer causing compounds.

Milk is a wholesome food and curd is a fermented product. Too much fermented food creates an acidic environment. Buttermilk is a very good alternative to milk and curd.It has all the benefits of curd without fat or milk solids. That doesn't mean you have to give up on milk, some hormones in our body need fat, so that they can be produced well & some vitamins which we take in our food are also fat soluble.

Fresh curds have all the benefits but commercially frozen yogurts are highly processed & may not have the same properties.

People who have arthritis, asthma, bloating,  should avoid curd.
