Winter is finally here and it can be a difficult time for skin. The harsh winter weather makes skin dry leading to irritation and flaking.

The harsh impact of winters on your skin can be avoided with proper skin care and following important points:

Avoid Long, Hot Showers

We all love a steamy, hot bath when the temperatures drop. However, long exposure to hot water breaks down skin’s natural protective oil, leaving it dry. Take a short bath or hot shower to prevent over-drying your skin.

Exfoliate

Exfoliating your skin gently once or twice a week will help speed up skin cell regeneration and also helps moisturiser to go deeply into the skin, allowing new skin cells to surface

Moisturise

As temperatures drop, skin’s moisture also drops. Opt for a moisturiser that contains natural moisturising ingredients and it is best applied to damp skin immediately after taking bath. You may also use coconut oil or olive oil.

Apply Sunscreen

It is wrong to think that you don’t need sunscreen during winters. UV rays may cause damage to the skin even if the sun is not as harsh as during the other parts of the year.

Use Lip Balm

Keep your lips moisturised and prevent chapped lips by applying a thick layer of good lip balm.
