Prostate cancer is the second commonest cancer in men worldwide, and 8th commonest cancer in men in India. In the video Dr. Shahpur Kamalakar Nandakishore speaks about the causes and symptoms of prostate cancer.
Prostate cancer is one of the commonest cancers in men and it affects the prostate gland (the small walnut-shaped gland that produces the seminal fluid). Prostate cancers may either be asymptomatic, grow slowly, and remain confined to the prostate (as they are in majority of the cases); or they may be aggressive and spread to other parts. The clinical symptoms of prostate cancer mostly depend on the severity of the cancer. In the video Dr. Nandakishore lists out a few important clinical symptoms which may be the early signs of prostate cancer, which include:
- Pain in the prostate area
- Burning micturition (burning sensation during urination)
- Infrequent urination
- Difficulty emptying the bladder
- Reddish colored urine
- Generalized body weakness and fatigue
- Muscle weakness and back bone pain
Adding more to the topic Dr.Nandakishore also speaks about the causes or risk factors for prostate cancer and the role of genetics to determine if you are prone to prostate cancer or not. Watch the video to know more.
