All the years in college we have learned about the Idea of Panchakarma is the best part of Ayurvedic chikitsa; the  patient once treated with panchakarma does not require on and off medication; but practically we rarely see such treatments being carried out at college OPD / IPD more over the area and staff doing the panchakarma  is filthy that patient does not sustain the treatment. But as a practitioner, I am doing panchakarma for last almost 20 years now. Rather it is the major source of my income and the fame.  I would definitely like to share two very recent experiences of my panchakarma patients in Mumbai with you all. There are hundreds of such experiences over these many years of practice but these two are very different.

1. I was about to complete my consulting hrs on that day and one of my very old patients called me up asking to wait for few more minutes bringing one patient for my perusal and management. After about 15 min. later he came along withMr. Prem, a transport contractor, a 54-year-old male with pain in the abdomen. He was diagnosed with Subacute intestinal obstruction by a local surgeon after all necessary investigations. He had not passed stools for last 6 days, distention, Peristalsis was not heard. He was planned for surgery next day morning.  I gave him a Sneh Basti of Air and taila – 100ml and asked him to have alternative hot and cold packs on abd. Next day morning he came much more relieved all his symptoms were gone. He had passed 3 motions with a good amount of stools, I had given him 3 more matra bastis for next 3days. The patient is absolutely fine and now has become a major referring source.

2. The second patient is a Gujarati lady 37-year-old with recurrent urethral strictures over last 3 years. She has been treated with urosurgeon and was getting dilatation done every month still continuing to have the problem. She was given 5 consecutive uttarbasti of Ropan tail and then follow up uttarbasti once a month for next 3 months. In last 2 years she never had any complaints of stricture urethra.

It is my advice to all young friends to be confident and follow the practice you can make difference in the life of the patient and achieve success.
