At the Dental Bond we are proud to be a certified provider of INVISALIGN clear aligners in conjunction with our orthodontist which give you a clear, convenient and comfortable option to achieve the smile you have always dreamed about! In this article we aim to answer a few doubts regarding this avant-garde technology which has recently been creating waves in India.

Q.1)  What is Invisalign?

Ans:  Invisalign is the invisible way to align your teeth without braces. Invisalign uses a series of clear, removable aligners to gradually arrange your teeth in the right way, without metal or wires.

 Q.2) How does Invisalign work?

Ans: Invisalign uses 3-D computer imaging technology to depict the complete treatment plan from the initial position to the final desired position from which a series of custom-made, clear "aligners" are produced. Each 'aligner' moves and straightens your teeth progressively and is worn for about two weeks, then replaced by the next in the series until the final position is achieved.

Q.3) How is Invisalign different from conventional braces?

Ans: Traditional braces use conspicuous metal wires and brackets that are attached to your teeth to move them into position. Invisalign does not use any wires or brackets.

Q.4) What are the advantages of Invisalign?

Ans: The principal benefits of Invisalign are:

a) Invisalign is removable. Unlike braces, you can eat and drink what you want during treatment. You can also brush and floss normally to maintain good oral hygiene.

b) Invisalign is comfortable. There are no metal brackets or wires as with braces to cause mouth irritation.

c) We will use a scanner such as the iTero digital scanning system to create fast, precise 3D digital images of your teeth. Then we will map out a specific customized treatment plan, including the exact movements of your teeth and how long your treatment will be. You can even get to see how your teeth will move and  have a sneak peek of your new smile!

Q.5) What are the aligners made of?

Ans: Aligners are made of clear, strong medical grade plastic that is virtually invisible when worn.

Q.6) Will the treatment be painful?

Ans: Most people experience temporary discomfort for a few days at the beginning of each new stage of treatment. This is normal and is typically described as a feeling of pressure. This discomfort typically goes away a couple of days after you insert the new aligner in the series.

Q.7) How long does Invisalign treatment take?

Ans: Invisalign treatment appointments work with your schedule if you have a busy lifestyle. Most visits are in and out, with a quick progress check once every six weeks.

Q.8) Do I need retainers after the treatment is completed?

Ans: Wearing a retainer after any orthodontic treatment is an important step, because it keeps teeth stable in their new positions. If you want your teeth to remain in their ideal position,it is best to wear a retainer as directed by an orthodontist. In many cases your last aligner will be your provisional retainer, until your retention option is determined. You can discuss other retention options with your orthodontist in order to determine what really suits you.

Q.9) Will Invisalign work for my smile?

Ans: Invisalign clear aligners are clinically proven to treat cases from minor teeth straightening to moderate occlusions. If you have large gaps or severely rotated or tilted teeth, you may not be the best candidate for Invisalign. At the Dental Bond we will perform a comprehensive consultation in order to explore your options.

Q.10) How much does Invisalign cost?

Ans: As with other types of orthodontic treatment, the cost of Invisalign is dependent on the intricacy of your issue and your course of treatment. It is advisable to drop by for a consultation first in order to deduce your situation at first and then draft a customized treatment plan appropriately.
