Common Symptoms of Facial Paralysis include, but are not limited to:

FACE 

  • Muscle Weakness or Paralysis
  • Facial Droop
  • Facial Swelling
  • Forehead Wrinkles Disappear

THROAT

  • Difficulty speaking
  • Difficulty in eating and drinking

NOSE

  • Nose runs 
  • Nose is constantly stuffed
  • Difficulty breathing out of nostril on affected side
  • Nostril collapse on affected side

MOUTH

  • Excess or reduced salivation
  • Drooling
  • Diminished or distorted taste

EAR

  • Pain behind ear
  • Sensitivity to sound

Eye

  • Impossible or difficult to blink
  • Difficulty closing the eye
  • Sensitivity to light
  • Lower eyelid droopTears fail to coat cornea Brow droop
  • Excessive tearing
  • Lack of tears

The physiotherapist will work on your facial movement to make muscles fit. It includes 

  • Massages to keep face muscles mobile and healthy
  • Stretches to lengthen muscles
  • Exercises to help re-learn balanced facial movements to make drinking and eating easier for eye care and dry mouth management

- Speech therapy
