A short story of our patient. 

Shanaya25-year-old lady came to us with symptom of anxiety. She was from north basically but migrated to Mumbai for her job. Before consultation, she was totally unaware that she was going through anxiety.  She stated that everything started after 2months of shifting to Mumbai. Constipation issue was worst for time being. It was difficult to sleep at night. Sudden increase in heart palpitation and sweating. 

I was totally unaware what was going with me. After few days my mom visited me for few days and I was totally fine during those days. It all started again when my mom left back to home. I use to get restless while sleeping. It was my first time coming all alone to new place. I was born and bought up at north with too caring and protective parents. They use to be with me all the time. It was my comfort zone and I came to Mumbai for this job. I was fine before nothing was wrong with me. but suddenly started feeling restless without any reason. 

To that we explain her it was because she came to Mumbai out of her comfort zone to completely new place that to all alone. Symptoms are of anxiety and it is manageable with hypnotherapy and other therapies as well. After hearing name of hypnotherapy, she denied it with quick answer. 

So, I asked her why?

To that she answers that

 ‘’ Mene dekha hai movie me hypnotize karke kuch bhi karvate hai’’, Chor log bhi toh use karte hai. 

 To that we clear her doubts about hypnotherapy. And after that she was clear that how best hypnotherapy is for her treatment. There are lot more misconceptions about hypnotherapy then its benefits. Most of these misconceptions came from TV or Movies. Most of us consciously or subconsciously believe TV shows. TV is great medium of information and entertainment, but sometimes we feed our mind with negative things.  Distorted and unreal images have impacted concept of hypnotherapy in wrong way.  

Hypnotherapy help people to change unwanted behavior pattern and overcome emotional problem.  Hypnotherapy is proven therapy which helps to deal with psychological disorders, stress indues skin problem and maladaptive behavior.   

Some of the misconceptions of Hypnotherapy

# Hypnotherapy is only for weak people. - Its not about weak or strong people, it’s about willingness of that person.

 # Hypnotherapist will ask you about your secrets.- In hypnosis people are totally aware of their surroundings. 

#In hypnotherapy you will be unconscious.-  Hypnosis is just relaxing state so in which people are just relaxed and not unconscious. 

 #Hypnosis is like sleep.-  In fact, the hypnotic trance is a heightened state of concentration. 

#You can get stuck in hypnosis.- There is no chance of getting stuck in hypnosis because even though therapist is not around you will automatically come out of it. 

#The hypnotist can make you do things against your will.-  As it already stated above people are aware.

# It is possible to be hypnotized against your will.-       No, it’s not possible to hypnotized against your will. 

Well! It’s not true. People have misconceptions about hypnotherapy due to influenced by movie or by rumors. But it is scientifically proven therapy.
