Allergic Rhinitis (hay fever) is an allergic reaction to tiny particles in the air called allergens. When you breathe in allergens through your nose or mouth it goes to frontal, ethmoid, and maxillary sinus further to the respiratory tract. The other way to recognize Allergic Rhinitis is usually trigger, like seasons changing or being around pet. Allergies often happen at same time each year, like in summer. On other hand, virus or cold occurs due to transmission from affected person. A cold tends to go away within a week, whereas allergies stay until allergen is out of air.
