The saying “As you sow, so shall you reap” is apt in the case of pregnant woman. Pregnancy is a natural state like menstruation, though it brings a great change throughout the body, which subsides after delivery.      A woman who has looked after her health, will reap the reward by having a healthy pregnancy and a healthy child. It is absolutely essential for a pregnant woman to maintain her physical and mental well-being both for her own sake and for the sake of the child within.

   In the early stages of pregnancy morning sickness, dullness, weakness may appear. Sometimes there are discharges, or pains in the pelvic region, swelling or numbness in the feet, swollen veins, and varicose veins, backache, constipation, variation in blood pressure, toxemia, headache, dizziness, blurred vision, and infrequent urination.

                                 अहं वैश्वानरो भूत्वाप्राणिना देहमाश्रित:              

                                 प्राणापानसमायुक्तं पचाम्यन्नं चतुर्विधम्      (भ.गीता-15) 

  1.    Try to develop self-awareness while eating the food.    
  2.    Be regular with the meal timings and avoid eating between meals.         
  3.    Avoid eating late at night.       
  4.    Simple, nourishing, and easily digestible foods are best.         
  5.    Avoid rich foods, especially deep fried,chocolate, sugary.     
  6.   Avoid spicy, rich, pungent preparations, overeating·        
  7.   The diet should consists of fresh vegetables, fruits,sprouts, pulses, whole grain.       
  8.   Intake of coffee and tea should be reduced.
  9.   Alcohol and cigarettes aggravate the negative conditions.        
  10.   Drink plenty of fluids including water, fresh juices.
  11.   Reduce intake of salt.
  12.  Take ample of rest throught-out this time.

          Specific Regimen mentioned in Ayurveda for Pregnancy & Post-delivery time, Ayurvedic management through Medicines & Panchakarma, Yogic practices (Asana,Pranayama) and a Balanced simple diet are the most effective ways to tackle the Pregnancy  in a positive way.
