1. Menstruation (Days 1-5): 

  • This phase marks the beginning of the menstrual cycle.

  • Hormone levels, particularly estrogen and progesterone, are low during this stage.

2. Follicular Phase (Days 1-13): 

  • Occurring concurrently with menstruation, the follicular phase involves the development of ovarian follicles. 
  • The pituitary gland releases follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH),stimulating follicle growth.
  •  One dominant follicle matures and prepares to release an egg. 
  • Estrogen levels gradually rise, prompting the thickening of the uterine lining.

3. Ovulation (Day 14): 

  • This is the midpoint of the menstrual cycle. 
  • The matured follicle ruptures, releasing an egg into the fallopian tube in response to a surge in luteinizing hormone (LH). 
  • Ovulation is the most fertile period for conception. Estrogen levels peak just before ovulation.

4. Luteal Phase (Days 15-28): 

  • Following ovulation, the empty follicle transforms into a structure called the corpus luteum. 
  • The corpus luteum produces progesterone, which helps maintain theuterine lining in preparation for potential pregnancy. 
  • If fertilization does not occur, hormone levels drop, leading to the shedding of the uterine lining and the start of a new menstrual cycle.
