Yes, some people are born with it, but, there are a lot of things you can do (and not do) to improve your skin health. I am going to talk about the one secret that can ensure you look gorgeous each and every day of your life - "GOOD NUTRITION!" 

I work with so many people who come to me for weight loss and in the end, they find themselves feeling fitter and looking gorgeous! How does this happen? Simply, because of the nourishment good food provides to your skin. It is amazing to see these transformations. So today, I have curated a list of my top 12 local (Indian) foods that can have a major impact on the health of your skin. Just remember, you will never see results overnight. Use this list as a basic guideline and try and incorporate these foods as often as you can.

  1. Tomato: Tomatoes are rich in Vitamin C, Lycopene, Zeaxanthin and Potassium. Each of these nutrients is directly involved in skin health-related functions.
  2. Salmon: Salmon is a fantastic source of Omega-3 Fatty Acids that help maintain smoother, younger-looking skin. It also contains carotenoids that prevent the skin cells from damage.
  3. Eggs: Eggs are rich in proteins and lecithin. This helps in repair of damaged cells as well as in regeneration of new cells.
  4. Pomegranate: Antioxidants prevent oxidative damage and help in the production of collagen.
  5. Walnuts: Vegetarians, who do not consume fish, should opt for walnuts without a doubt! These Omega-3 rich nuts are excellent for skin health.
  6. Beans: Beans contain more fibre, B vitamins like Thiamine, Niacin, etc, and are an excellent source of Protein. These nutrients together boost regeneration of skin cells and repair of damaged ones.
  7. Guava: Guava is one of the most easily available and easy on the pocket fruit in India. Guava is extremely rich in Vitamin C. In fact, it is one of the best sources of Vitamin C. Vitamin C is directly involved in the production of Collagen as well as in protection from oxidative damage.
  8. Drumsticks: Drumstick is packed with nutrients. It has antioxidants that help keep the age away. It also contains sulphur that improves collagen production.
  9. Wheatgerm: Wheatgerm contains vitamin E as well as Selenium. Both these nutrients, together, play a very powerful role in prevention and reduction of age-related changes.
