There’s a difference between curing and healing. Often it is used synonymously. So let us understand the difference.
Cure: a cure signifies the banishment of physical illness.
Heal: healing means not just a physical cure, but a repairing and strengthening of the mind and spirit to improve the quality of life, even in cases where no physical cure is possible.
How does homoeopathy help in treating a sick individual? Homoeopathy helps in healing the individual suffering from sickness.
So now coming back to the title of the article, how does comfort play a role in healing?
What does one mean by comfort? Comfort is the state of ease or alleviation of a person’s feelings of grief or distress. Basically, comfort is being at ease.
Since a homoeopath needs to find out a remedy for that “particular individual”, he needs to know a lot about you. The basic expectation of any homoeopath from her patients is that she should feel at ease, at comfort to talk to her doctor – about anything and everything.
Nothing a patient says is unimportant to a homoeopathic doctor. And also no question posed by the doctor is purposeless.
To answer the questions asked by the doctor one needs to feel “at home” with the doctor. Some questions might also involve personal history like addictions, her menstrual cycle, pregnancy and delivery and menopause related questions etc.
To be precise, a homoeopath needs to know the core of the individual – what are his/her belief systems, about the childhood, about the eating habits, about the sleep patterns and dreams, about inter-personal relationships and much more.
It becomes easier on the part of the patient to open up and share the information especially when one knows that the whole process is followed to help the patient.
So when a patient gets comfortable talking to her doctor it becomes easier on the part of homoeopath to select a medicine that will not only cure, but heal her as well.
