Parents! As temperatures rise, so do your child’s hydration needs.
Kids get so busy playing, they often forget to drink water; and dehydration can sneak up quickly!
Watch for These Signs of Dehydration:
Weakness, tiredness, or unusual fussiness
Dry lips/tongue or cracked lips Less frequent urination (fewer wet diapers/not peeing for hours)In infants:
Sunken soft spot on the head, drowsiness, or extreme lethargy
For Diarrhea or Illness:
The WHO-recommended Oral Rehydration Solution (ORS) is a lifesaver!
Dosage: 5 mL per kg of body weight per loose stool.(Example: A 10 kg child needs 50 mL after each episode.)ORS packets are available at pharmacies; stock up!
Prevention Tips:
Send kids outside with a labeled water bottle.
Offer water-rich snacks (watermelon, cucumbers, popsicles!).
Remind them to sip water every 30–60 minutes during play.
