Acne is a very common disorder. Each and every teenager always detests pimples that mar their glowing beauty .

The main problem is with hypersensitive oil glands and not hormonal imbalance. Very few patients have the underlying hormonal disturbance.

Let me tell you about the problem that underlies beneath every pimple. Usually it starts with puberty when the hormones start their activity. The oil glands in response to the hormones start secreting sebum. The sebum makes our skin shiny and supple. Failure of sebum to reach the skin surface leads to accumulation in the skin leading to various types of acne such as black or white heads. When the bacteria normally present act on this sebum, we get pustules and large red pimples.

All of these pimples can appear on any part of the body that bears hair as these oil glands are attached to hair.

Hence, we have pimples on the face, chest, back, buttocks as well as shoulders.

In majority of the cases, there is no hormonal disturbance.
