Are you have difficulty in hearing the TV, Mobile Ring or Door Bell?

The audible range that a human ear can pick up is from 20 Hertz to 20000 Hertz; the most meaningful range bring from 125 Hertz to 8000 Hertz. This is the frequency range which is significantly important to us. Inability to hear these frequencies within a normal level can give an insight of an individual's hearing ability. Humans communicate in different languages and dialects which is sometimes  difficult to process. An individual with hearing impairment would find it very difficult to cope up in such situations.

Initial signs of hearing loss

1) Increased tv volume

2) Difficulty in understanding conversation in a group

3) Misinterpretation of the sentence being told

4) Unaware of the conversation at a distance are some of the signs

How to identify?

A basic Audiometry test performed by a qualified audiologist done in a sound proof room would give you an estimation of the type and degree of hearing problems. Special tests also would be carried out when necessary  to differentiate between auditory nerve deafness and conductive hearing problems. Appropriate referral would be made when requiring a surgical opinion with an ENT (Ear, Nose & Throat) specialist.
