Birth to 6 months

· Clean mouth with clean cloth or gauze after every feed and particularly at bed time

· Avoid very frequent feeding unless recommended by your doctor

· Regulate feeding habits

6 to 12 Months

· First tooth usually appears; time to see the pediatric dentist for an examination

· Begin to brush the teeth after each feed and particularly at bed time with small, soft-bristled brush using a NON-fluoridated toothpaste. Swallowing fluoridated toothpaste at a young age can lead to fluorosis (discoloration) of your child's permanent teeth hence a non-fluoridated toothpaste

· Wean from or stop mothers milk / bottle-feeding by first birthday

12 to 24 Months

· Follow schedule of oral/dental examinations and teeth cleanings as recommended by your pediatric dentist

· Continue using NON-fluoridated infants toothpaste

· Most Primary teeth would have usually erupted by this time
