Well it's time to celebrate Diwali and bhai dooj with family and friends and so may be tempted to binge on sweets, chocolates, cakes, cold drinks. while you may have pledged to keep fit but may end up with diet mistakes.

Here's how to avoid them:

  1. CONTROL PORTION SIZES
Enjoy the sweets but control their portion sizes as the sugar and fat in them will take a toll on your health as well as weight. Enjoy but with control over your mind.
  2. INCREASE FIBER
Maida and sugar in the sweets can make you constipated. so increase fiber in the form of veggies and fruits. They will also keep you full and hence you may not be tempted to eat more sweets.
  3. NO FAST, NO FEAST
This is the major mistake which we commit during festivities and parties. we skip meals and then we binge. This is the main reason for weight gain. You may suffer from fatigue as well when you do not eat at proper interval.
  4. HYDRATE YOURSELF WITH WATER
Avoid too much of tea, coffee, cold drinks and packaged drinks this Diwali. Drink water as it will not only fill you but also helps to detox. Fresh coconut water or lemon water without sugar is a good choice.
  5. SAY NO TO COCKTAILS AND MOCKTAILS
They are full of calories. Moreover, they dehydrate the body. Enjoy the festivities and have alcohol in moderation only. Best to be avoided.
  6. AVOID OIL BASED SNACKS
Steaming, grilling and baking are healthier methods of cooking food. Avoid fried snacks like samosa. kachori, instead opt for dhokla, idlis. similarly fried sweets like jalebi and gulab jamun can be replaced with sponge rasgullas.
  7. AVOID PROCESSED AND SALTED FOOD
It is not only the sugar which throws your diet plan out of gear but also equally responsible are processed and salted foods.

Wish you a Happy and Healthy Diwali and Bhai dooj. Eat sensibly to stay healthy.

Enjoy your journey to health.
