Bleeding gums is the 1st sign of pyorrhea, what we call as periodontal disease. People generally avoid brushing the teeth which are bleeding, but this leads to more and more damage which progressively loosens the teeth in a very early age.

How you can prevent the disease from progressing??

  1. Twice daily brushing is the foremost, use of a soft bristle toothbrush is advisable.
  2. Develop a habit of flossing
  3. It can be also due deficiency of certain vitamins such as vitamin C, so maintain a healthy diet.
  4. Certain medications like those give in blood pressure patients e.g. aspirin , amlodipine may also increase bleeding gums and may cause swelling in the gums, so they might needed to be replaced by your physician consent.
  5. Hormonal changes in female patient can also lead to bleeding gums , so a proper physician consent is must
  6. Avoid use of tobacco
  7. Last but not the least visit a dentist for periodic dental check up, every 6 months cleaning of the teeth is must by a professional .
  8. The tartar which has accumulated has to be removed to stop the further progression of the disease.
