and once your tooth is fully erupted it should be gone,
on other side if food gets locked inside pocket below gums it can lead to pus and swelling, so be cautious.
It's a flap of gum tissue near the erupting wisdom tooth called pericoronal flap possible cause of food impaction causing pericoronal inflammation and in turn abcess formation. So causing pain , and swelling.
