Hello, so this is often seen in a person who is dieting for weight loss that he/she does not either lose any weight nor gain any weight. This phase is called the “plateau phase”. In simple terms it means that your body has now adapted to your new routine of eating healthily with regular exercise. The caloric deficit diet that you eat now is what your body has accepted as its basic needs. This is a common reason. Another reason could be that the numbers on the weighing scale still show the same but the body composition is changing, meaning fat percentage is going down and muscle mass is increasing making you leaner and energetic. So, to break this weight plateau either you need to change your eating pattern e.g.- you can try doing intermittent fasting or you need to increase your exercise time and/or intensity.

This is known as hitting the plateau. She has to make some changes in her diet / workout schedules. Decrease / increase calories OR increase intensity of time of workout. Stress also plays a key role in this.

Adjust her diet slightly by reducing portion sizes or including more seasonal, low-calorie vegetables like spinach, radish, and carrots. Ensure she's eating enough protein like paneer, dals, and seasonal legumes like green peas to maintain muscle and boost metabolism. Add warm soups, herbal teas, or clear vegetable soup in the evening to support digestion and control hunger. She can switch her walking routine to brisk walking or include small strength exercises to burn more calories and tone muscles. Make sure she's staying hydrated even in winter, as dehydration can slow metabolism. Check her sleep quality, as poor sleep can stop weight loss progress. Hormonal issues like thyroid or low vitamin D/B12 can affect weight loss. A blood test might help.

Hi Good afternoon! That’s a good weight loss for 6 months. It is normal for being stuck at a weight for a while. This could be due to various reasons, if the original weight loss was from muscles, not fat loss. Or if the portion sizes are more. It’s essentially the time taken for the body to adapt to the metabolic changes. Is your wife exercising regularly, did she eat a balanced diet during weight loss, how is her hormonal health?
