During hypertension, maintaining proper hydration is crucial. Dehydration can lead to an increase in blood pressure, as the body attempts to conserve water by retaining sodium, which can exacerbate hypertension. It's important for individuals with hypertension to: **Monitor Sodium Intake**: High sodium levels can increase blood pressure, so managing sodium intake is key. **Avoid Excessive Alcohol**: Alcohol can affect blood pressure and hydration status.
Next Steps
In summary, while the general recommendation for water intake is about 2-2.5 liters per day, those with hypertension should tailor their intake to their specific needs and follow medical advice to manage their condition effectively.
