It could be failing root canal as well if yeh cavity wasn’t sealed
Get the Rct evaluated
And if the cavity is filled up with permanent you can go for crown else it might be advisable to go for re rct f/ b crown

Yes its possible to go for cap now but you need to go for x ray and check weather there is no infection in teeth which is causing pain

Yes it's mandatory to go for crown after root canal therapy. Pain might be due to some gum infection . Anyway we need to confirm with a x-ray to proceed with the crown.If required we need re root canal therapy too. Its safe to take a antibiotics course before procedure .
